Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Examine and evaluate patients to determine necessary care

Provide patients with emergency care by utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment

Document patient information, condition, and treatment

Maintain patient confidentiality and perform all care with respect for patient rights

Transport patients in accordance with outlined policies and procedures

Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment for patients

Operate and drive ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies and laws

Provide basic life support and gather patient data

Qualifications for EMT

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

Current EMT certification with National Registry of Emergence Medical Technicians

Fully licensed with the Bahamas Health Professional Council

Current CPR certification

Must possess a valid driver's license

1 year of experience in an emergency care setting preferrred

Ability to bend, pull, push, and lift up to 50 pounds

Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Demonstrated ability to implement clinical care in accordance with outlined policies and procedures

Ability to exercise sound judgment while working in a stressful environment

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to legally work in the Bahamas.
  • Must be willing to work in a drug-free environment and agree to a post offer drug test.
  • Must be willing to work safely and keep OSHA recordable incidents to a minimum.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively plan and organize.
  • Demonstrated training and management skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations as applied to the construction industry.

Education and/or Experience     

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

  • Current EMT certification with National Registry of Emergence Medical Technicians
  • Fully licensed with the Bahamas Health Professional Council
  • Current CPR certification

Supervisory Responsibilities       

None but may need to give direction to others when needed

Current driver's license

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills        

Ability to work with mathematical concepts related to business acumen and some basic calculations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge basic computer software; Safety systems; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, reporting tools related to databases
