Read structural and architectural drawings, details and schedules
Use CAD 3D and AutoCAD Detailing System to build an accurate three dimensional model to allow generation of necessary shop documentation
Modify generated plans, details and drawings to efficiently communicate to shop and job site personnel
Communicate with Clients and Project Managers regarding detailing status, or potential questions or issues, and prepare, submit and interpret Requests for Information
Prepare drawing submittals, and update detailing model and shop drawings according to comments received from others
Coordinate drawings with other trades, such as joists and deck, and MEPFP
Coordinate with other detailers as needed
Travel to job sites when necessary to VIF all required measurements and assess field conditions for each project including taking written notes and/or photos for adequate documentation
Occasionally design/problem solve customized steel applications from hand drawn sketches
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations to include health, safety, and welfare as appropriate
Other duties as assigned by Company Management
5 years’ experience of Windows operating systems. Must be able to generate 3-D layouts/models using AutoCAD design software
Intermediate understanding of the structural steel fabrication and construction industries and standard construction practices
Understanding of AISC, OSHA, IBC and AWS codes, and when and how to apply them
Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural design drawings and specifications
Must have the ability to handle multiple and changing priorities, including good time - management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a complete manner
Work as a part of a team and collaborate with colleagues
Strong mathematical skills, including basic algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and the ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as proportions, percentages, area, and circumference
Strong management, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to visualize structural components and assemblies
Ability to work with computers, including typing, reading reports, emails and navigating the internet to find information
Must be able to communicate clearly through written or verbal means whether in person or via phone or email
3-5 years' experience in Engineering, Design, Architecture, or a related field
Strong understanding of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Foreign Language skills are a major plus (particularly Spanish), or at least comfort level in overseas environments.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Word Processing software;. SharePoint.
